A gentle retinol alternative

The Bakuchiol Collection is our natural retinol alternative routine, made for anyone who wants smoother, brighter looking skin without the redness, peeling, or sensitivity that so often comes with retinol. At the heart of it is bakuchiol, a plant based retinol alternative from the seeds of the babchi plant, paired with tallow from local regenerative farms and a small handful of botanical oils. Two simple steps, a few thoughtful ingredients, and nothing your skin doesn’t need.

Why bakuchiol

Why we chose bakuchiol

So many of us have tried retinol and ended up with skin that felt raw and angry. Bakuchiol has been studied for its retinol like results on the look of fine lines, uneven tone, and texture, but it’s far gentler on the skin. It doesn’t make skin more sensitive to the sun the way retinol can, so it’s lovely morning or night. For me, it was the natural answer I’d been looking for, and it fit right in with the herbal, tallow based skincare we already make.

  • Step one: Bakuchiol Face Serum

A lightweight face oil with a higher concentration of bakuchiol, blended with squalane, prickly pear seed oil, and rose infused jojoba. Press a few drops into clean skin.

  • Step two: Bakuchiol Tallow Face Cream

Whipped beef tallow with bakuchiol, sea buckthorn, and prickly pear to seal in the serum and leave skin soft and nourished. A little goes a long way.

  • Each works beautifully on its own, but together they’re a complete natural anti aging routine.

Frequently asked questions

Is bakuchiol a natural alternative to retinol?

Yes. Bakuchiol is a plant based ingredient from the babchi plant that has been studied for retinol like results on the look of fine lines and uneven tone, while being much gentler on the skin.

Can I use bakuchiol during the day?

Yes. Bakuchiol doesn’t make skin more sensitive to the sun the way retinol can, so you can use both products morning or night. Our products don’t contain sunscreen, so we always recommend following with your favorite sunscreen during the day.

Is this collection good for sensitive skin?

It was made with sensitive skin in mind. That said, every skin is different, so we suggest patch testing on your inner arm before using a new product on your face.

Is tallow good for your face?

Tallow is naturally rich in fats similar to the ones your skin makes on its own, which is why it absorbs so well and leaves skin soft rather than greasy. Ours is rendered three times for a clean, creamy texture.

How long until I see results?

Most people notice softer, more comfortable skin right away. For changes in the look of fine lines and tone, give it consistent use for about 8 to 12 weeks.

Can I use bakuchiol while pregnant or nursing?

Many people choose bakuchiol as a gentler option during this season, but research is still limited. Please check with your doctor or midwife before adding any new skincare.

Do I need both products?

Not at all. Each one works on its own. Using them together gives you the most complete routine.

We keep this simple on purpose.

Every product is made with ingredients you can recognize and trust. Nothing unnecessary, nothing hidden, nothing added just to make it look or feel like more than it is.

We source with care, make everything in small batches, and stay close to the process from start to finish. Because what you use in your home should feel safe, understood, and worth coming back to.
